WebRTC
WebRTC is an open technology framework that empowers standard web browsers to deliver rich media communications, including voice and video sessions without requiring plugins, downloads, or installs.
With Tango Networks’ WebRTC integration, a subscriber’s mobile subscription can be extended/enhanced with powerful new communications services capabilities that all tie back to their existing personal and/or business phone number(s) – whether using their mobile phone or via WebRTC applications.
Imagine the ability to make a call from a Facebook account through a web browser on a laptop that uses the subscriber’s real mobile phone number – and then notifies their Facebook and Google+ friends that they’re in a phone call. Then with the click of a button, they transfer the call to their mobile phone so they can leave – and their friends can see that they’ve gone mobile. This is the power of WebRTC when integrated at the network level with carrier mobility services.
For corporations and verticals, employees can have their BYOD mobile integrated with the enterprise communications network, enabling corporate policies and features from their existing mobile phone – but also extended to corporate-supported WebRTC endpoints and applications. Corporate subscribers can transfer sessions between WebRTC endpoints and their mobile device with no additional client software on the mobile device, providing the flexibility to make and receive calls while using mobile phones or WebRTC endpoints, and preserving corporate identity when outside the office.
Tango Networks’ WebRTC integration supports the evolving IETF RTCWeb working group standards and includes a WebRTC-to-SIP gateway and services API.
