Tango Networks Enables WebRTC Integration with Mobile Networks

Frisco, TX, USA – February 14, 2013 – Tango Networks, a leading technology provider that enables mobile service providers and enterprises to embrace the power of Mobile Unified Communications with any mobile phone, today announced enhancements to Tango Networks’ innovative solutions that enable mobile integration with Web Real Time Communications (WebRTC) applications.

WebRTC is an open technology framework for enabling rich media communications, including voice and video sessions, using standard web browsers. WebRTC opens the doors to new communications services capabilities whereby users and developers are no longer constrained by purpose-built desktop or mobile clients to support voice and video communications. Tango Networks’ WebRTC integration supports the evolving IETF RTCWeb working group standards and includes a WebRTC-to-SIP gateway and services API.

With Tango Networks’ WebRTC API, mobile service providers can facilitate the integration of WebRTC applications with subscribers’ existing mobile subscriptions, thereby enabling innovative new WebRTC applications to be associated with a subscriber’s true mobile phone number and integrated with their existing mobile services. These capabilities can include single or multiple identity management services across both mobile and WebRTC interfaces, advanced capabilities for transferring sessions between WebRTC endpoints and a subscriber’s mobile device with no additional client software on the device, and sharing of mobile network presence and location information.

“WebRTC represents the advent of new communications services for enterprise and consumer users,” said Andrew Silver, CTO and co-founder of Tango Networks.  “With Tango Networks’ WebRTC integration, mobile service providers can enable new transformational services that can be associated with subscribers’ real mobile and/or enterprise identities.”

Tango Networks’ solution enables any mobile phone to access the enterprise IP telephony infrastructure, so that corporate users can also access Unified Communications and PBX services via WebRTC endpoints on desktop computers, laptops, or smartphones, providing the flexibility to make and receive calls while using mobile phones or WebRTC endpoints, while still preserving the corporate identity when outside the office. Enterprises can also extend Tango’s “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) policies for corporate and personal usage to include WebRTC endpoint access.
